# GLEC v3.2

## Summary of Framework Updates

The **GLEC Framework**, a standard for logistics emissions accounting and reporting, has been updated from **version 3.1** to **version 3.2**, published by the **Smart Freight Centre** in **October 2025**. This update focuses on expanded regional emission factor coverage (notably India), a refreshed Clean Cargo sea freight dataset, and consolidated logistics site/hub terminology, while the underlying calculation methodology and category structure remain unchanged.

### Main Updates in Version 3.2

1. **Road Freight**:
   * Added **India-specific emission factors**, following the same approach as the existing China-specific data.
   * Updated **USA, EU, and South America** datasets with revised fuel-mix factors.
   * China's factors are unchanged.
2. **Rail Freight**:
   * Added a new `indian_average` traction factor, alongside the existing `electricity`, `diesel`, and `us_diesel` options.
   * No changes to API schema fields or category structure.
3. **Sea Freight (GLEC)**:
   * One emission factor updated (international container vessels, energy scope calculation).
   * No changes to vessel categories, distance tiers, or well-to-wheel multipliers.
4. **Sea Freight (Clean Cargo)**:
   * Refreshed 2025 datasets for average and trade-lane–specific CO₂e intensities.
   * Harmonized with GLEC's global sea freight dataset.
5. **Logistics Site / Logistics Hub**:
   * API `type` terminology now prefers `logistics_hub`; `logistics_site` remains supported for backward compatibility.
6. **Air Freight & Inland Waterways**:
   * No factor changes; audit trail and documentation references updated to v3.2.

### Key Framework Details

* All GLEC-, ECTA-, and Clean Cargo-related methodology references now point to **GLEC Framework v3.2 (October 2025)**.
* The framework continues to align with the **ISO 14083** standard and the **GHG Protocol** for Scope 3 Category 4 & 9 reporting.
* No changes to API schema field names for any mode.
